Thirty-five weeks....

35 weeks til the 1/2 Marathon and sometimes I wonder why I'm counting down because it seems so far away! BUT I know if I don't I will not be ready come November. This week was pretty good, I felt good about my diet and I have been working out. I guess I can't ask for much more at this point.

Goals for last week:
  • Eat within calorie range & actually count ALL my calories: I did much better this week, I went over 2 days this week, but one of the days I went over it was not from anything unhealthy that I ate and it was only 4 calories :)
  • Grocery shop & pack my lunch if I am out: I packed my lunch 1 of the days I was out all day, but out of the whole week I only ate out 3 times. If you know anything about me that is a MASSIVE improvement! That means I spent more time in my kitchen than any other place this week! Not saying I was super thrilled about it, but now that the week is coming to an end I am proud of myself.
  • Jazzercise 3x/wk: I went to Jazzercise 2x (again), I keep missing one class each week :/
  • Run 2 miles without stopping:  I ran 2 days this week. I ran/walked 1.83 miles on Monday and 3 miles on Friday. I did not run 2 miles without stopping, but I'm still proud of myself and that will come in time!
 Goals for the week ahead:
  • Keep up with my calories
  • Jazzercise 3x/wk
  • Run 3x/wk: Walk 3min/Run 7min: repeat 3 times I found this running guide I am going to go by...It will help me get up to running 30 minutes without stopping.
  • Stop stressing: been really hard for me to maintain all of this PLUS go to school, go to work, do homework, clean the house, raise 3 children. HA I know nothing has to be perfect, but I want to be able to maintain some sanity during all of this!

36 weeks seems far away...

& that is a good thing!! I need all the time I can get.
This week was not as productive as I would have liked. I had a weak moment (or 2 or 6). I seemed to have forgotten by dinner time that I was trying to eat healthy and ate Mexican food almost EVERY night! But I'm hoping after this week I got it out of my system. I do know I eat much healthier when I am prepared, so I need to go grocery shopping and stop eating out. Prepare my food in advance and then I won't have too many slip ups!
I heart chips&salsa
My  goals for last week:
  •  Eat within my calorie range: I went over my calorie range every day, except one day
  • Jazzercise 3x/wk: I made it twice...but I had a good reason to miss Friday's class!
  • Run 1 mile: I did it! It took me until Saturday, but I did it! I ran 0.7 miles non-stop, but I was getting shin splints really bad, so I had to stop and just walk for a little while. Then I ran again and I am sure I ran more than 1 mile. Total I did 2.5 miles of running/walking! A far cry from 13.1 miles, but it is a start! I know next week I will do even better!
Goals for next week:
  • Eat within calorie range & actually count ALL my calories :)
  • Grocery shop & pack my lunch if I am out
  • Jazzercise 3x/wk
  • Run 2 miles without stopping

37 week until 1/2 Marathon

This past week I tried to start training for the 1/2 marathon (HM), but did not have much luck.
First...I ordered a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) and it has been a great big pain in the neck. I wanted to use it to see how many calories I am burning while I work-out and run. Well, the darn thing is broken and I am in the process of exchanging it.
Secondly..on Thursday I had made plans to go running with my mom because it was my only FREE day. The track we normally go to was closed, gated up and being bulldozed! What luck!
We didn't give up though :-) We decided to walk around her neighborhood. By the time we got back and got the kids settled with bikes/skates/scooters, we were only able to walk for 30 minutes and I only ran for a couple minutes. Not.gonna.cut.it. I know!

Positives: I did make it to Jazzercise twice this week. YAY ME!

As for my eating, I am doing much better! I have cut out fast food which is causing me to cook a lot more! Don't pass out..but I'm actually enjoying it!! I'm learning new recipes and buying new HEALTHY foods to try! It's been tough to go COMPLETELY healthy & I have eaten a couple candies and goodies, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I am drinking well over 8 glasses of water a day, I am watching my calorie intake and have lost 3lbs in the last 2 weeks! It is exciting and motivating. & maybe 'hopefully' soon I can wear my favorite jeans again!

Goals for next week:
  • Eat within my calorie range
  • Jazzercise 3x/wk
  • Run 1 mile

A good man always knows his limitations

When I was younger I always wondered what it would be like to live in another time. I'm not sure if it was all the John Wayne & Clint Eastwood western movie, but I was always day-dreaming about living in the Wild Wild West.

Living in the 1800's
horses & stage coaches
cowboys & Indians
No malls, no cars, no cell phones.
--------------------
Nothing in my life resembles that. at. all.
This is me when I forget my cell phone at home on accident:

I am cut off from the world for an hour and I have nothing to do with my hands. Oh the horror to sit at a red-light & not check my Facebook!
Kat from Mama's Losin' It prompted us to talk about what 'vice' we could not live without. .
I could live without Facebook if I wanted to.
I could go without a cell phone if I had to.
Heck, I don't even need to check my email every 30 minutes.
Oh, who am I kidding....Just the thought of giving up Social Media makes my  hands sweat and my heart race in fear.
